We are set to rock the neighborhood and kick the summer off with class, beginning this Friday with the first of a few benefit shows. That’s right, there will be no cover. Donation only to attend. This will take place at a few of the coolest spots all over the Lowcountry—-with some of the area’s best musicians loaning their talents & time to help those in need. Here is the official announcement of the very first show in the series. The Kick Off Party is guaranteed to be a fantastic night of music, friends and fun!! SO PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!! WHEN: Friday June 20, 2008 WHERE: A Dough Re Mi 1220 Ben Sawyer Blvd Sea Island Shopping Center Mt Pleasant, SC 29464 843-881-6989 TIME: 9pm BAND LINE-UP: Openers: Skye Paige———Tommy Thunderfoot & the Accelerators Headliner: Rev. Dr. Johnny Mac & The BootyRanch Yep, you may know A Dough Re Mi for its yummy pizza, Italian delights, friendly staff and cold beer…but it is also the PERFECT venue for some of the greatest musicians in this area. The dim lighting, great stage and overall laid back atmosphere of this venue will set the pace for the fun kick-off of our Concert Series announcements coming your way—-so please stay tuned. We will have some other cool things going on as far as drink specials, 50/50 raffles and an awesome guitar-driven National Anthem performed by John Melnick. (100% of donations going to Ramey Reeves—brain tumor recovery—and Robin Lobosco—kidney transplant recipient). Donate whatever you like. You make your own cover charge. Read more about them in the Wild Report above. Whereas the artists are concerned: I CAN’T WAIT!!! I have heard tremendous things about the openers and look forward to checking it out. As for the headliner, let me tell yall this: You KNOW I have no shortage of admiration for different artists in this area and beyond. I support ‘em all, best I can, with my writing and promo stuff….and I have even gone so far in a recent Carolina NightLife article (hint—see archives Art’s Bar & Grill) to agree with one gent’s opinion of a certain area guitarist being the best thing this side East of the Mississippi—-and then some. In all fairness, however, I hadn’t stumbled across the Rev and his band at the time….so now—I have some more. Rev. Dr. Johnny Mac & The BootyRanch is EVERY bit as FUN as the name—-in fact, more so!!! They get the crowd up on their feet with their EXTREMELY irresistable, magnetic energy force that’s set to music. Booties be shakin’ fo sho!!! The band’s aggressive style blends well with their high-grade talent and polished finesse. Rev. Dr. Johnny Mac himself seems to possess an unmistakable charm that pulls at the very souls of the masses. A spectral being appears to take on the shape of human form as his haunting -yet oh so pleasurable- musical vibe takes over the entire room….A true seance to each ‘n every one of the senses, this is one scene you DEFINITELY want to be a part of!!!! So please come and bear “Witness” to this magical stage experience——AND be so kind as to help out local neighbors in need of assistance. We will hope to see you there!!!!
